Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
