New information has come to light about the shocking deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence home on Sunday.

The Discovery

According to a report quoting a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and denied bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.

Additionally pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
