The distinguished British actress Dame Helen, already recipient of an Academy Award, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, multiple Emmy accolades, along with a Tony Award, is poised to earn an additional major award to her shelf: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Award Event

Mirren, octogenarian, formerly honored as a dame in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in 2014, will pick up this honor in a ceremony January 8, three days before the main Golden Globes occur, as part of a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as the Golden Eve event.

This will also include the awarding of the organization’s Carol Burnett honor for TV work, whose winner remains unannounced. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a powerhouse performer, with a career is nothing short of extraordinary,” remarked Helen Hoehne, Helen Hoehne. “Her captivating roles and commitment to her craft persistently influence numerous actors and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

The star became well-known in the 1970s with key roles in theater in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect increased her popularity further. Other key films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her performance as the Queen in the 2006 movie The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 within The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan concerning the sessions between the queen and premier Thatcher, a performance for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.

Latest Works and Future Roles

• Later-career movies feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
• Mirren’s turn in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and honors speculation is building regarding her role as a dying matriarch in the film by Kate Winslet initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• Next year, audiences will see Mirren as Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be declared on 8 December, including Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
