Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
